I just heard that this beautiful, low mile, insanely well kept black series was murdered. Someone crashed into it and did $50k in damage.

But at least the owner is pulling the engine and sending it to his son who has a twin of the same car. The engine on the dead one is perfect. All new cams, lifters, adjusters, and cylinder heads.

Reminded me of an incident on my commute. There was some inanely expensive, rare Mercedes. I don’t recall what it was, but I remember having seen it on Top Gear and that it was at least $100k+, maybe $200k+. ANYWAY, on this occasion the Mercedes driver was driving kinda slow on an on-ramp and had a 90s Hyundai inches from his rear . I was livid. Like... dude the rear bumper on that car costs more that your entire car and the car itself is (likely) worth more than your house... by a wide margin. I don’t care if the Mercedes is driving 10 under, BACK THE FUCK OFF!

I would guess SLS or a Black Series of some kind. Unless it was old. Then it could be a lot of things. But yeah, people suck.

Lol, yeah, I just looked it up and thought it had more HP than it did - so I guess I could just tune it and have moar powah if I needed to.

Sucks about the car (holy crap they sell for a lot still!), hopefully the owner is ok!

As far as I know he’s fine. Physically. Probably will need therapy for this tragic loss. I would.

Tuning 278's is very effective and I haven't seen any downsides from it. Not that they really need more power.

I’ve got a 3 year warranty that I worry about voiding, plus I just don’t need it - the low end torque makes me smile enough as is.

What about the rest of the drivetrain though?  I worry more about the trans and 4matic than the engine, with a tune.

Yeah just leave it stock. They're plenty quick. Honestly stay on top of maintenance and you should be fine. Early never hurts on trans services.

Yes- I plan to keep the car a long time, so no skimping on maintenance. I’ve got an 18 year old reliable (!) BMW, thanks to keeping up with it.
